It appears being Britain’s sporting superstar is already taking its toll on Wimbledon winner Andy Murray.

The Scotsman may have ended 77 years of hurt by becoming the first British male since Fred Perry to triumph at SW19, but one autograph hunter inflicted a new kind of pain by accidentally poking him in the eye as Murraymania reached a new level.

Murray and girlfriend Kim Sears had continued to celebrate his straight-sets win over Novak Djokovic with dinner at Nobu restaurant in London and the pair were all smiles when leaving at the end of their meal.

They left the restaurant at midnight but despite them leaving that late, Murray was mobbed by a crowd and the accident happened.

The autograph hunter can be seen rather aggressively pursuing his target in the hope of getting his book, entitled ‘Winning Service’ signed.

Murray could not hide his pain and reacted by shielding his affected left eye after he was struck and later in a taxi.
